Today I was driving through a parking lot and saw a couple
by their cars hugging. Not your regular,
quick hug, but a hard hug, one that lasted and lasted. When I passed them they had stepped apart, they
were looking different directions and both had the “try not to cry” look on
their faces.
This was good-bye, somebody was leaving, and for a long
time. This made me think of my friends
who have had their loved ones leave recently, especially Jennie.
I like the welcome home hugs and tears a lot better.
Strangers in the parking lot, even though you didn’t cry, I
cried for you and wish you a quick return to each other.
Jennie and my other military friends, I am sending you a hard
hug.
