I’m working the lunch room at the elementary school today
and most of the kids have left the cafeteria.
I see one of my favorite kids hanging back shoving the last bit of food
into their mouth.
I called out across the room a big hello and the response was,
“Hey, what’s wrong with your hair?”
Today I had my hair pulled back into a ponytail. It was rainy and muggy outside.
Me: Yah, I know it
looks terrible. The weather makes it
frizz out.
Kid: No, it’s all
white right here. (Points at temples.)
All the remaining kids in the cafeteria turned and looked at
me.
Me: I like to call it
natural highlights. (Die laughing.)
I guess this means I am in need of a dye job if a kid, not
one of my own, is pointing it out.
