Just in case you were wondering, a good deed doesn't always
equal good karma. Or maybe it does.
I preface this story with a little background. When we had a dog (for all of three months
because I felt super guilty when I left it alone and a girl like me cannot stay
cooped up in the house for long.) Thomas laid down the law that he would not
pick up dog poop. So I countered with I
will never shovel snow again, which I thought was brilliant because we lived in
the Great White North. We've stuck by
these rules for years and will continue to, but I will be the winner because we
will never have another dog and winter comes around every year.
It snowed last night and Emily had to walk from the house to
the van to be picked up for her carpool.
The shoes they have to wear to school are not suited for snow. I decided to shovel a path just from the door
to where I thought the van would stop. This
does not count as shoveling the driveway, but keeping my kid's feet dry. Well, FYI, wearing Birks on icy driveways is
not a good idea. Down I went and then I
was running late to get the little kids to their school so I had to sit in wet
pajama bottoms for 30 minutes.
Those pajamas, or as I like to call them, my normal everyday
pants, went right in the dryer when I got home…and the good karma? Putting on warm pajamas right out of the
dryer.
I would love to declare a "win", but not sure
falling is worth it. However, this did
turn me on to the idea that I can warm up the flannel bottoms any time I
want. Don’t you think it would be great if
you could set your dryer to go on 30 minutes before you get out of bed, just
like the coffee maker? I'm going to
patent that idea. Nobody steal it. That's bad karma.
